Milwaukee County
Rawson Ave Interchange Project at I-94

County G to WIS 20 Frontage Roads Project
Project includes reconstruction/realignment of the frontage roads between County G and WIS 20. This project also includes the separation of the "scissor" ramps and frontage roads at County K.Click here for the latest project brief for this project.
Kenosha County
I-94 Mainline Project from WIS 50 to WIS 142
Project includes reconstruction/widening of I-94 WEST (NB) between WIS 50 and WIS 142. This project also includes reconstruction of the I-94 WEST (NB) exit/entrance ramps at WIS 50, WIS 158, and WIS 142. This project is a combination of 2 projects - the second year of a two-year mainline project between WIS 50 and WIS 158, and the first year of a two-year mainline project between WIS 158 and WIS 142.This work began in early March and will last until late Fall, 2013.
WIS 142 to County KR Resurfacing
Project includes resurfacing I-94 between WIS 142 and County KR. This project will extend the existing work zone between WIS 50 and WIS 142 north to County KR.

WIS 50 Local Road Project
Project includes reconstruction and new construction of roadways in the NW and SW quadrants of the WIS 50 & I-94 interchange. This is a two-year project that includes work on WIS 50 at I-94 in 2014.This work will begin in early Spring and will last until late Fall 2013.

I-43 Bridges Project (Milwaukee County)
As part of the I-43 Bridges Project, WISDOT will be rehabilitating various roadway bridges on and over I-43/94 between the Mitchell Interchange and the Marquette Interchange beginning early February, 2013.

Rawson Avenue Interchange Reconstruction (Milwaukee) - Construction Update
As part of the I-94 N-S Freeway Reconstruction Project, WisDOT is reconstructing the Rawson Avenue Interchange at I-94 in Milwaukee County. The new interchange will be constructed to a conventional diamond interchange and will include new entrance and exit ramps to/from I-94, and a new Rawson Avenue bridge over I-94. Work on this project began in mid February and is scheduled to last until late fall 2013.
Current closures as part of this work include:
- Full closure of I-94 WEST (NB) exit ramp to Rawson Ave
- Full closure of Rawson Ave entrance ramp to I-94 EAST (SB)
- Full closure of Rawson Ave EB entrance ramp to I-94 WEST (NB) (loop ramp)
- Partial Closure of I-94 EAST (SB) exit ramp to Rawson Ave (Open only to Westbound Rawson Ave)
- Full closure of WB Rawson Avenue entrance ramp to I-94 WEST (NB)
- Full closure of Rawson Avenue from 13th St to 20th St. Local traffic can access Rawson Avenue between 20th St and 27th St
- Full closure of I-94 EAST (SB) exit ramp to Rawson Ave until late fall
Rawson Avenue will be open to 1 lane of traffic in each direction in late June.
Please note, to reduce delays during peak hours, some overnight lane and ramp closures on I-94 will occur periodically during construction of this project.

I-94 Resurfacing between WIS 142 and County KR (Kenosha County)
As part of the I-94 N-S Freeway Project, the freeway will be resurfaced from WIS 142 to County KR in Kenosha County. Beginning the week of May 28, I-94 will be restricted to 2 lanes during the day and 1 lane overnight, from WIS 142 to County KR. These lane restrictions will extend the existing WIS 50 to WIS 142 work zone north to County KR. This closure is expected to last until early/mid July.
Please note that the speed limit will reduce to 55 mph in this work zone.

Highway K Frontage Roads Reconstruction/Realignment (Racine County) - Construction Update
As part of the I-94 North-South Freeway Project, the East and West Frontage Roads from Highway G to north of Highway 20 are being reconstructed and realigned in Racine County. Work on the East Frontage Road began in early April and is scheduled to be completed by mid-July. Work on the West Frontage Road will begin in mid-July and is scheduled to be completed in late Fall.
Current closures on the project include:
- Full closure of the East Frontage Road from Highway G to north of Highway 20 for reconstruction until mid-July. Please note that all intersections in the work zone are closed except for Highway G, Highway K and Highway C.
Future closure on the project include:
- Full closure of the West Frontage Road from Highway G to north of Highway 20 for reconstruction from mid-July to late fall 2013. All intersections in the work zone will be closed except for Highway G, Highway K and Highway C.

Highway 50 Local Roads Project (Kenosha County) - Construction Update
As part of the I-94 North-South Freeway Project, WisDOT will be reconstructing/constructing a few local roads near I-94 and Highway 50. Work on this project began in mid-April and is scheduled to last until late 2014.
WisDOT will be reconstructing 71st Street, 77th Street, 122nd Avenue and 125th Avenue near Highway 50. Along with reconstruction of these existing roads, the following new roads near Highway 50 are planned to be constructed: 74th Street, 76th Street, 122nd Court and 123rd Avenue.
Current closures on the project include:
- 122nd Avenue is closed between the new 74th Street and WIS 50 until late June. The road is open to local traffic only. Businesses to the south of 74th Street should be accessed from WIS 50 and businesses to the north of 74th Street should be accessed from 71st Street or the West Frontage Road.
Future closures or updates on the project will include:
- 125th Avenue will be closed late June until mid-July. When 125th Avenue is closed, 122nd Avenue will be open to traffic.
Expansion of WIS 50 from a 4 lane highway to a 6 lane highway is also part of this project. The intersections of Highway 50 with 125th Avenue, I-94 ramps and 118th Avenue will be widened to accommodate heavy traffic. Please note that two lanes on Highway 50 will be maintained at all times during this construction.
Adjacent Project:
During construction of the Highway 50 Local Roads, the City of Kenosha will also be conducting a project on 122nd Avenue between 71st Street and the new 74th Street. This work is scheduled to begin in summer and last until fall 2013.

Ryan Road Interchange (Milwaukee) - NB Exit and SB Entrance Ramps Reconstruction
As part of the I-94 N-S Freeway Reconstruction Project, WisDOT is reconstructing two Ryan Road Interchange ramps at I-94 in Milwaukee County. The I-94 WEST (NB) exit ramp to Ryan Road and the entrance ramp from Ryan Road to I-94 EAST (SB) will be reconstructed as part of this project.
To accomplish this work, the shoulder on both the above mentioned ramps are closed along with I-94 WEST (NB) and I-94 EAST (SB) at Ryan Rd until Fall 2013.
Please note that few overnight lane closures and ramp closures will be implemented as necessary through the course of the project.

WIS 142/County S Interchange and Mainline Reconstruction (Kenosha County)
As part of the I-94 N-S Freeway Reconstruction Project, WisDOT is reconstructing the WIS 142/Highway S ramps and mainline in Kenosha County. This work will also include reconstructing the NB exit and entrance ramps to I-94 in 2013. Please note that this project is immediately adjacent to the WIS 50 to WIS 158 construction project and will be coordinated accordingly.
Current closures on this project include:
- A single lane is closed on I-94 EAST (SB) until late fall, 2013.
- A single lane is closed in each direction on WIS 142 under I-94.
- WIS 142/County S entrance ramp to I-94 WEST (NB) is closed until mid-July. During this ramp closure, traffic should use the frontage roads to access I-94 WEST (NB) at County E.
Future closures or updates on this project include:
- I-94 WEST (NB) exit ramp to WIS 142/County S will be closed from mid-July until late fall, 2013.
Traffic on I-94 WEST (NB) is switched to the I-94 EAST (SB) lanes until late fall for reconstruction of the NB lanes from 3 lanes to 4 lanes to accomodate future traffic.

WIS 50 to WIS 158 Mainline Construction Continues on I-94 WEST (NB) in Kenosha County
As part of the I-94 N-S Freeway Project, construction will continue on the east side of I-94 between WIS 50 to WIS 158 in Kenosha County. This work includes expanding I-94 WEST (NB) freeway section from three lanes to four lanes and finishing the construction on the WIS 50 and WIS 158 interchanges with I-94 to meet current design standards.
Please note that this construction work will connect with the WIS 142/Highway S construction on the north end of the project.
Current closures on this project include:
- WIS 50 entrance ramp to I-94 WEST (NB) is closed until mid-July. During the WIS 50 entrance ramp closure, traffic should use the open frontage roads to access I-94 WEST (NB) from WIS 158 or County C.
- I-94 WEST (NB) exit ramp to WIS 158 is closed until mid-July. During the WIS 158 exit ramp closure, traffic should exit at WIS 50 or WIS 142 to access WIS 158.
- WB lanes on WIS 158 are closed under I-94. 1 lane is open to traffic in each direction on the EB lanes under I-94.
- County N under I-94 is closed until late fall.
- The East Frontage Road south of WIS 158 is closed until early August.
Traffic on I-94 WEST (NB) is switched to the I-94 EAST (SB) lanes.
Future closures or updates on this project include:
- I-94 WEST (NB) exit ramp to WIS 50 will be closed from mid-July to late fall, 2013.
- WIS 158 entrance ramp to I-94 WEST (NB) will be closed from mid-July to late fall, 2013.
